Convert between currencies using live, up-to-date exchange rates
💡 Why This Matters Exchange rates shift constantly, so a number from yesterday — or from memory — can be meaningfully wrong today. This converter pulls live rates so you're working with the real, current mid-market rate, not a stale or marked-up figure.
The rate you see quoted online or here is the "mid-market rate" — the true midpoint between buy and sell prices with zero markup. Banks and exchange kiosks almost always add a margin on top, which is why the rate you're actually offered is usually worse than the one you looked up.

This converter fetches live exchange rate data and multiplies your entered amount by the current rate between your two selected currencies. Rates are sourced from the European Central Bank's daily reference rates, which are published once per business day and reflect the real mid-market rate — the actual midpoint between what currencies are bought and sold for on the open market, without any markup added.
The large number is your converted amount in the target currency. The breakdown underneath shows the exact exchange rate used and the date that rate was last published — useful context, since rates can shift meaningfully day to day, especially for currencies experiencing volatility.
ECB reference rates update once daily on business days and do not reflect intraday fluctuations, so this is a strong reference point rather than a live trading feed. Rates also don't update on weekends or ECB holidays — you'll see the most recent business day's rate during those periods. This tool shows the mid-market rate; any bank, card, or exchange service you actually use will likely apply its own margin on top.
Use this to estimate travel budgets, check whether a quoted exchange rate seems fair, or convert prices while shopping internationally. For actual transactions, compare the rate you're offered against the mid-market rate shown here — a large gap usually means a high markup.
Example: Say you want to convert $100 USD to EUR, and the current live rate is 0.86 EUR per USD. Converted amount = $100 × 0.86 = €86.00. Because rates update daily, this exact figure will drift slightly day to day — always check the live rate shown above rather than relying on a memorized number.
Rates come from the European Central Bank via a live data feed and are updated daily around 4:00 PM CET on business days. Rates do not update on weekends or ECB holidays, so the most recent business day's rate is shown during those periods.
This tool shows the mid-market rate — the actual midpoint rate currencies trade at with no markup. Banks, card networks, and currency exchange services typically add a margin on top of this rate, often 2-5%, which is how they make money on the conversion. Your bank's rate will usually be worse than the mid-market rate shown here.
This converter covers roughly 30 major world currencies tracked by the European Central Bank, including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CAD, AUD, CHF, and other widely-traded currencies. It does not currently cover smaller regional currencies outside this list.
